Day 1: Johannesburg (07 Oct 2010)
South Africa
Today is arrival day with no activities planned apart from the all important pre-departure meeting at 18:00. At this meeting your guides will give you a detailed briefing on the tour ahead as well as to collect your local payment. Make sure to arrive early if you wish to explore around Johannesburg. A transfer from the OR Tambo International Airport can be arranged on request.

Day 2: Maputo (08 Oct 2010)
Mozambique
We depart Johannesburg early and depart for the Mozambique border. We then make our way to the sprawling Capital City of Maputo. This bustling city has an impressive skyline and boasts a unique combination of Portuguese and African atmospheres. In the evening we’ll enjoy the epic nightlife of Maputo.

Highlights: We explore the nightlife of Maputo with its many vibrant clubs and bars and finish off the night at Coco Nuts
Meals: None – As we arrive in Maputo quite late we will go and get something to eat on our way out, thus giving you more time to explore this wonderful City.
Day 3 & 4: Tofo Beach (9 – 10 Oct 2010)
Mozambique
Leaving Maputo early we drive along the coast to the sleepy town of Inhambane. Hundreds of graceful dhows on this usually tranquil water are one of Inhambane’s most obvious features. After visiting the local markets and buying provisions, we move on to Tofo Beach where we spend our time relaxing on the beaches and enjoy Tofo’s exiting beach bars and vibrant local night life.

Day 5: Villanculos (11 Oct 2010)
Mozambique
Our journey continues as we travel north to the coastal town of Vilanculos, which is about halfway between Maputo and Beira. Here we will find ourselves back in civilization with buzzing markets, restaurants, public phones, banks and quaint supermarkets. We will then use Vilanculos as our base to explore the Bazaruto Archipelago.

Day 6: Bazaruto Islands/Vilanculos (12 Oct 2010)
Mozambique
We leave the mainland of Mozambique and board a traditional Dhow to sail over the warm, blue waters of the Indian Ocean to the Bazaruto Archipelago, just off the coast. You will then snorkel at the notorious 2 mile reef just of the Southern tip of the Bazarutu Islands. After spending the day having fun we return to the mainland and back to our camp. Please note – This is an optional activity and it is well worth spending the USD60 for this activity. It is a fun day out with awesome snorkeling of 2 Mile Reef.

Day 7: Chimoio/Chikamba Dam (13 Oct 2010)
Mozambique
This will be our final stopover in Mozambique en-route to Malawi where the Lake of Stars music festival awaits us. Tonight we camp on the shores of the Chicamba Dam near the Zimbabwean border with sunsets that simply take your breath away.

Day 8: Blantyre (14 Oct 2010)
Malawi
After our breakfast we continue our journey driving north in the direction of Blantyre. Blantyre is one of the main cities in Malawi and buzzing with city life so different to the Lake Malawi-lifestyle. This is our last stopover before we leave for the Lake of Stars Music Festival on the shores of Lake Malawi.

Day 9, 10, 11, 12: Lake of Stars Music Festival (15 -18 Oct 2010)

Malawi
We leave the music and bands behind and head for Lilongwe on our way to Zambia. Tonight you have the opportunity to explore the nightlife that Lilongwe has to offer or simply relax at your hostel

Day 14, 15: South Luangwa National Park (20 – 21 Oct 2010)
Zambia
We enter South Luangwa National Park, the jewel of Africa’s wildest and most remote National Parks, which offers 100 different mammal species and a splendid birdlife. The park comprises a rich mosaic of habitats, from dense Mopani forest and riverside woodland to open grassland plains and sheltered pools. The next two days are spend on game drives and walks (depending on weather conditions) to see more of the various game species.

Day 16: South Luangwa Bridge (22 Oct 2010)
Zambia
We break up the journey to Livingstone with a stopover at the Bridge Camp with spectacular views over the South Luangwa River. Before we leave you will have the opportunity of a final morning open vehicle game drive in South Luangwa National Park. We also visit traditional African markets en-route.

Day 17 & 18: Livingstone/Victoria Falls (23 – 24 Oct 2010)
Zambia
Livingstone is the adrenalin “Capital of Africa” and also host to the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. You can try some of the many optional activities on offer such as white water rafting on the Zambezi, bungee jumping just to name a few.

Day 19: Kasane (25 Oct 2010)
Botswana
We leave the majestic Victoria Falls behind and head for Botswana, crossing the Zambezi at the Kazangula Ferry. We overnight on the banks of the Chobe River. This afternoon you have the opportunity to enjoy a sunset cruise on the Chobe River.

Botswana
